The Female Empowerment Series: Veronica Zoppolo

We asked LA-based actress and model Veronica Zoppolo for her thoughts on a joyful life and finding and trusting your inner voice. Happy International Women's Day!

You are always joyful and happy. How would you describe your outlook on life?

"I’d say that rather than think joy and happiness it’s something external or something you need to pursue, remember you can generate it from within.
The practice of gratefulness is key to finding consistent joy and happiness for me. It’s only up to oneself and no one else can do that for you. It’s an everyday choice. A positive attitude in life is so important, it’s all about perspective."

How do you choose your female friends and what do you do to nurture these relationships?

"One of my favorite things in life is being a friend. I believe a great life is based on great relationships. I have friends that feel like sisters in many different cities and countries from different seasons of life. I love planning surprises, working out together, listening, planning trips, sleepovers, celebrating, cooking together and sharing meals, endless catch up whatsapp audios and FaceTime, the list goes on! Sharing quality time equals building meaningful memories. It’s in the smallest things that then you find the treasures to look back on. It’s beautiful when you think about it. That’s wealth".

You started modeling at a young age and moved away from your parents - what keeps you grounded?

"The values that my family raised me with growing up in Uruguay. Their lighthouse love protecting me always and guiding me to make conscious decisions."

Which women are you inspired by? Who are your role models?

"My 93 year old Granny. Her energy is admirable. Her strength and passion to live life is a blessing to witness. She even flew out for a whole month to visit last year all the way from Montevideo. She is incredible. She is so active and capable. She is a big dreamer and I love that. I love her."

We will send The Million Roses to a woman of your choice. Who would it be and why? Which rose box would you choose for them? Which colors and style represent her?

"I would like to send flowers to one of my acting coaches Kay Aston. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and inspiring. She has given me gifts that I will not only carry with me on set, but in my life as a human being.
I would choose the Classic Light Pink Suede Superdome Box | Light Pink Roses

The meaning of pink roses is gratitude and admiration. Pink roses also represent femininity and elegance. I feel lucky to have her in my life."

“I can buy myself flowers”  - what would you choose to treat yourself?

"Yes! I love buying myself flowers. It lifts me up to see them. Flowers represent such beauty and wonderful gifts from Mother Earth.
I choose to treat myself by setting a nice vibe at home. Turning on a candle. A relaxing bath. Sleeping in. I love going for a massage and gifting myself space to mindfully breathe and tune into my body. A sound meditation. I like to treat myself with surf time and outdoor hikes."

Do you have a life philosophy?

“Aprendí. Aprenderé. Voy aprendiendo.” I remember my mother saying this in Spanish and I love to remind myself of it. It means: “I learned. I will learn. I am learning.”

Which challenge have you faced and overcome as a woman?

"Trusting my own voice. Giving myself the solo time to check in and learn to listen in the silence. To look for answers inside and not search for them outside."

Was there a moment that made you say I am a woman now and not a girl anymore?

"I would say consciously listening to the little voice inside myself and being fully aware that my life is my responsibility. Things can happen that I can’t control but I can control how I react to things and that ultimately makes me who I am."
